What I Learned Today

Today I discovered that copal, a translucent golden incense produced from tree sap, is not, in fact, the same thing as candied ginger. Not the same thing at all. Fortunately, this discovery was made before any copal-flavored cookies could be baked. However, today's finding does lay the groundwork for other promising lines of inquiry - in particular, with careful experimental design and rigorous data analysis, it may be possible to one day determine which other substances are not candied ginger. Right now I have a strong hunch that radishes, sesame seeds and coal may also prove to be agingerous, but of course only time and a great deal of study will serve to confirm or contradict such hypotheses.
